Strategic Plan

The Arts Place, Inc. board of directors conducted an 18-month cultural needs assessment and planning that culminated in a new regional strategic cultural plan for the organization, its service area and the residents of this region. This plan covers the period 2010 to 2015 and was adopted after an extensive effort to gain public involvement.

Public Information Services

Arts Place’s Public Information services include several websites (including this one) and online publications.  These include the following:

Launched in 2000, IndianaArts.org is the state’s only centralized online arts information resource.  The website includes an events calendar, as well as registries of artists and cultural organizations in Indiana.  The site allows artists and organizations to aggregate content from IndianaArts.org to their own web sites through the Arts Connection Engine (ACE) feature.  Those looking for job opportunities for the arts in Indiana can make use of the site’s Gig Alert.  Those seeking artists to provide services can utilize the Classified Ad tool.  While owned and operated by Arts Place, the service is collaboration amongst a number of arts organizations around the state.  To see for yourself, visit www.indianaarts.org.

OhioArts.org is being developed as a mirror site to IndianaArts.org. The current focus of the website is on West Central Ohio.

The Main Artery and The Arts Connection are regular online publications of Arts Place. The Main Artery features articles on cultural events in East Central Indiana and West Central Ohio, as well as editorials and reports on cultural issues of interest to the region. The Arts Connection focuses on events and programs provided or hosted by Arts Place.

Services to Artists and Organizations

Arts Place provides technical assistance to artists and cultural organizations. Organizations can receive advice and materials on board development, strategic planning, budgeting, facility development and management, fund raising, and marketing. These services are provided through individual consultations, as well as workshops and conferences.  A major project of Arts Place is the Beauty in Small Places conference, which is designed to celebrate the arts in rural and small communities.  First held in May of 2011, the next BSP conference is scheduled for April of 2013.

Workshops are also offered for artists on marketing, portfolio development and other skills that support career development for artists in the region.  For more information on all of these services, click here.
