On, Saturday, May 4th Arts Place Auglaize/Mercer will be host the first annual Children’s Literature Festival from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The festival will be held at Memorial Park, in St Marys, Ohio. This event is free to attend and open to the public. Local authors, illustrators, and publishers will be on site reading stories to guests at the gazebo and discussing their work. Children’s art and writing activities will be offered at no charge. A variety of vendors, crafters, and artisans will be on site as well. As guests tour the festival, they are welcome to enjoy free face painting and complimentary popcorn. Children are encouraged to attend the festival dressed as their favorite literary characters. A free book swap will be set up. Everyone is encouraged to bring a few books they have finished and exchange them for something new to read.
At the Children’s Literature Festival, information will be available about Arts Place’s annual summer Arts in the Parks program. Arts in the Parks is a series of summer arts workshops designed to introduce students, ages 6 and older, to a variety of experiences in both the performing and visual arts. Arts in the Parks class.
