Beginning in the new year, a new exhibit will be on display at the Portland Center of Arts Place. The show, entitled “Beyond Feyum” features the work of Midwest encaustic artist group FUSEDChicago. The exhibit will be on display from January 7th to February 3rd. It is free to view and open to the public during Arts Place’s regular business hours. An exhibit reception will be held on January 19th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. At 6:00 p.m. an artist talk will be given. The reception is free to attend. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available. This event is being held in conjunction with a performance by Ensemble 4.1, a unique chamber group from Germany. The ensemble performance will begin at 7:30 p.m.
FUSEDChicago is an organization of Midwest artists who share an interest in encaustic, a method of making art using pigmented wax fused to a surface by heat. They strive to advance public awareness of encaustic art through workshops and thematic exhibitions of member work, and to create professional opportunities for networking and learning exchanges for our members.
