An opening reception will be held on August 31st from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
To see things from another perspective, is to step outside of oneself. Every day we see our world from the view point of two feet on the ground. What about seeing the world from a grander perceptive?
All of the paintings are made by layering tar paper, joint compound and acrylic paint to create an abstracted interpretation of the Earth’s topography or of the female form. The application of these materials creates a three-dimensional relief style, that gives my paintings the impression of being carved from rock and earth.
About Margo Sharp
Margo E. Sharp is a sculptor, painter and mixed media artist living and working in Loveland, OH. A graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design, Margo’s background as an installationist has given her an appreciation for materials and the combination of unexpected things. Though she was born in Ohio, Margo has lived all over. No matter how far from home, she has always maintained a connection with the Midwest region, that has inspired her work.
Margo utilizes man-made materials to construct her art, while drawing from a curiosity for nature to build her color palette. She borrows from the beauty found in the grand landscapes of canyons, forests and river valleys. In her latest body of work one finds textures that are reminiscent of the tiniest micro-environments such as moss, bark, and crystal.
Margo is a free spirit; a lover of fantasy and the worlds that can be created in the mind. A true individual, she believes that whimsy and chance can lead her heart, mind and a paintbrush. This sense of self has allowed her to develop a unique way of seeing this world, and the ability to create her own worlds, through artistic expression
