Quarantine Art

COVID-19 has changed many aspects of our lives. The mission of Arts Place is to nurture the creative spirit in our community, and the Arts Place team is grateful to do that from anywhere. We have issued a challenge to our patrons to send a photo or video of their creative expression to erogers@artsland.org. We want to share your creativity with your peers!

Here is our Executive Director, Eric R. Rogers, sharing his talent for piano with us by playing Gershwin’s “The Man I Love.”

We also have Daniel Meade, reading a poem by his brother, George. Thanks Heidi for sending this in!

Jack Ronald, Treasurer of the Arts Place Corporate Board and publisher of the local Portland newspaper The Commercial Review, shares his photography as well as a moving poem.

Our Visual Arts Director Kimberly Anderson shared a ceramics demonstration that shows the process of throwing a ceramic bowl. It’s a great video that also features some furry and feathered friends!

Carol Johnston, Portland resident, is a talented woodworker. She made this cutting board called “The Russian Butterfly” during her quarantine. The 3-D effect resembles a butterfly!

Don’t forget, if you’d like to be featured here and on our Arts Place Facebook page, all you have to do is send an email to erogers@artsland.org and tell us about your art or craft! We hope to hear from you soon.
