Celina resident Sherry Chandler has been creating pottery as a hobby for about 8 years after taking lessons while living in Asheville, NC. While there she was on the board of a non-profit group of potters in a studio called Squeaky Wheel. She’s sold work there as well as at gift stores in Black Mountain and Weaverville, NC. After returning to Celina in 2014 she continued with pottery and became a member of the Lake Area Arts Group. She is also learning watercolor and acrylic painting and incorporating that into her ceramic work. Sherry has placed first in the pottery classes at the Mercer County Fair each year since returning, as well as receiving the first place award in the 3-D category in the Arts Place Auglaize/Mercer Center Summerfest Art Show in 2018.
Sherry lives in Celina with her husband Steve, their dogs Jack and Chico and their cat Jasmine.
Amelia Goff, who is Sherry’s daughter-in-law is an award-winning artist specializing in abstract art. Her work with acrylic paint has been featured at Artistry Under the Dome, each of the Mercer County Libraries, Plein Air at the Fair, and now she brings her work back to Arts Place Auglaize/Mercer Center.
